The certificate or permit specifies the approved source of import; consignments from any other source are not permitted.Section 9 of the Insecticides Act, 1968 · Insecticides Rules, 1971 · CBIC Circulars 35/2011 dated 09-08-2011 and 7/2014 dated 07-03-2014

The most frequent error on this tariff line is importing under a registration certificate that specifies a different country or facility of origin — the Registration Committee's certificate names the approved source, and a consignment shipped from any unapproved source is treated as an unregistered insecticide regardless of the product's chemical identity. Additionally, importers relying on a non-insecticidal-use import permit must be prepared to demonstrate end-use at the port; a permit granted for non-insecticidal purposes does not cover the same chemical when subsequently found in insecticidal formulations.
