Prawn and shrimp aquaculture feed preparations
HSN 2309 90 31 (Prawn and shrimps feed) is subject to the ITC (HS) Restricted-import policy condition 1 of Chapter 23, administered by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT). A Health Certificate and a Sanitary Import Permit are mandated at the bill of entry, and compliance with the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD) approved feed-additive list — effective 21 December 2022 — governs the permissible composition of imported feed.

The most common error on this tariff line is importing a feed formulation that includes a feed additive, antibiotic or premix that has been deleted from the DAHD approved list, without checking the current version of the annexure circulated with the 21 December 2022 order. A consignment cleared before a deletion notification does not create precedent for subsequent shipments; each bill of entry is assessed against the list operative on the date of import, and non-compliant additives trigger detention and mandatory re-export or destruction.
