Mixtures of juices
Unfermented mixed fruit, nut and vegetable juices
HSN 2009 90 00 (Mixtures of juices) is subject to Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) Import Licence requirements under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, with the FSSAI Import Licence and a specimen copy of label mandatory at the bill-of-entry stage. Consignments must enter only through the designated food-import ports under General Note 4(D) of Schedule I of the ITC (HS) 2022, administered by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) and the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC).
- Import Licence from FSSAI
- Specimen copy of label from FSSAI
- Designated-port declaration to CBIC
Procedural directions for customs clearance are issued by: Directorate General of Foreign Trade, Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs.
- 1Obtain the FSSAI Import Licence before shipment and upload it in e-Sanchit under document code 911001. Also upload the specimen copy of label under document code 0110FS; customs out-of-charge will not be granted until both documents are verified in e-Sanchit by the proper officer.FSSAI Import Licence document code 911001 · Specimen label document code 0110FS · CBIC Instruction 10/2022-Customs dated 28-06-2022
- 2Route the consignment only through a designated food-import entry point as required under General Note 4(D) of Schedule I of the ITC (HS) 2022. Any labelling deficiency — including per-serve RDA contribution and expiry date — may be rectified at the customs bonded warehouse before inspection, by affixing a single non-detachable sticker without altering the original label, per CBIC Instruction 09/2023-Cus.General Note 4(D), ITC (HS) Schedule I · CBIC Instruction 09/2023-Cus dated 07-03-2023 · FSSAI order dated 18-11-2022 under F.No.Import/TFM/Apex/2022-FSSAI · Letter No. 1828/Misc Matters/FSSAI/Imports-2021 dated 17-06-2022
- 3Verify applicability of DGFT Notification 7/2025-26 dated 17-05-2025 if the consignment originates from or transits through Bangladesh. Para 19 of the General Notes introduces port restrictions on imports from Bangladesh; Para 2 and Para 3 of that notification set out the exempted goods and conditions.DGFT Notification 7/2025-26 dated 17-05-2025, Para 19 of General Notes, ITC (HS) 2022
The most common error on this tariff line is treating label rectification as a post-arrival fallback rather than a pre-shipment discipline. The dispensation under CBIC Instruction 09/2023-Cus permits only specific deficiencies to be corrected at the bonded warehouse — per-serve RDA percentages and expiry date where the manufacturer itself supplies the correction — and does not excuse a missing FSSAI Import Licence or an absent specimen label upload in e-Sanchit. A consignment detained for a missing 911001 upload does not benefit from the labelling-rectification window and will face demurrage and ground rent pending compliance.
