The challenge — completely uncharted territory

• At the inception, there was no BIS precedent for IS 17806, no Product Manual, no Scheme of Inspection & Testing, no marking-fee structure and no alignment framework between European design standards and Indian regulatory requirements. Every element had to be built from the ground up.

Strategic approach — five integrated workstreams

Value chain compliance (upstream integration)

• We Identified a critical upstream dependency: A raw material compliance with IS 2062. Fast-tracked BIS certification for the group's Indian steel supplier to eliminate downstream bottlenecks before they could arise.

Parallel certification strategy

• Next, we Initiated simultaneous certification workflows across all manufacturing locations, thereby compressing the overall project timeline significantly versus sequential processing.

Deep technical collaboration (global and India teams)

• We had an intensive alignment with Savera's Spain engineering teams and India manufacturing units in evaluating drawings, product designations, dimensional specifications and resolving multiple technical ambiguities through iterative validation.

Policy-level engagement with BIS HQ

• A direct and sustained engagement with the BIS Central Marks Department and its regional offices in co-developing the Product Manual, finalising the Scheme of Inspection, Testing and determining the Minimum Marking Fee structure.

Accelerated execution under ambiguity

• Despite multiple regulatory unknowns, we maintained compressed timelines through continuous follow-ups, real-time issue resolution and seamless coordination between client teams, labs and BIS authorities.
