The most common error on this tariff line is filing the bill of entry without a live SIMS registration number — either because registration was applied for too late or the 75-day validity window lapsed before the vessel arrived. The former minimum-15-day advance-registration requirement has been abolished by DGFT Notification 19/2015-20 dated 07-07-2022, but the 60-day opening window still bounds the earliest permissible application; a registration applied for beyond that window will be refused, and an unregistered consignment at the bill-of-entry stage is detained pending regularisation.
