Plates
Zinc plates, a form of zinc flat-rolled product
HSN 7905 00 20 (zinc plates) is not covered by a Bureau of Indian Standards Quality Control Order and carries no Partner Government Agency clearance requirement at the tariff-line level. Import follows the standard customs procedure: Importer-Exporter Code (IEC), bill of entry, commercial invoice, packing list. Other zinc flat-rolled products — sheets, strip, or foil — are separately classified within Chapter 79, and zinc alloy products or zinc waste and scrap may attract different treatment under sibling tariff lines in the same chapter.
The absence of compliance at this tariff line does not extend to the broader zinc products chapter: zinc alloys, zinc dust, and zinc waste or scrap each carry their own classification within Chapter 79, and misidentifying the product form — plate versus sheet versus strip — can trigger re-classification on customs examination. Re-classification retrospectively applies whatever compliance regime governs the correct tariff line, including potential detention pending resolution. Verify the product's dimensions, form designation, and alloy composition against the customs tariff before filing the bill of entry.
