Zinc dust
Zinc dust, fine particulate zinc for industrial use
HSN 7903 10 00 (Zinc dust) is not covered by a Bureau of Indian Standards Quality Control Order and carries no Partner Government Agency clearance requirement at the tariff-line level. Import follows the standard customs procedure: Importer-Exporter Code (IEC), bill of entry, commercial invoice, packing list. Zinc powders and flakes classified elsewhere within heading 7903, or zinc preparations formulated as corrosion-inhibiting coatings under other chapters, may carry distinct compliance requirements.
The absence of compliance at this tariff line does not extend to all zinc-based import streams: zinc oxide under Chapter 28, zinc-based anti-corrosion preparations under Chapter 32, and zinc alloy powders used in pyrotechnic applications may each attract separate PGA scrutiny or quality control obligations. Re-classification on customs examination — for instance, where declared zinc dust is found to be a formulated zinc coating — triggers retrospective compliance and detention pending the applicable clearance. Verify particle size distribution, purity grade, and intended downstream use against the customs tariff before relying on the absence of compliance here.
