The single most common error on this tariff line is failing to recognise that IS 1804:2004 is engaged through two concurrent Quality Control Orders — the Steel and Steel Products QCO, 2024 (S.O. 3716(E)) and the Ropes and Cordages QCO, 2024 (S.O. 4327(E)) — and that S.O. 5134(E) has deferred enforcement of specific serial numbers in Schedule 1 of the Steel QCO for three years from gazette publication. Importers must confirm whether the serial number mapping this CTI to IS 1804:2004 is among those deferred entries before treating the BIS obligation as currently operative, because presenting a consignment under a deferred entry without prior TCQCO portal clarification triggers detention regardless.
