The acute risk on this tariff line is the absence of a recoverable IS number in the standard lookup tables for HSN 7228 50 10: importers must independently confirm which serial number entry in Schedule 1 of S.O. 3716(E) maps to engine valve and cold heading steel bars, and whether that entry is among those whose enforcement was suspended for one year under S.O. 5134(E) dated 20-11-2025. A consignment cleared on a suspended-enforcement IS entry that has since reverted to operative status — or on an IS number that was never the correct Schedule 1 mapping — faces detention, monetary penalty under the BIS Act, 2016, and disposal of non-conforming stock as scrap.
