- 1Source only from a Bureau of Indian Standards CM/L-licensed manufacturer whose licence scope covers alloy steel flat-rolled products in coils against the Indian Standard listed in Schedule 1 of the Steel and Steel Products QCO, 2024. The critical oversight specific to this tariff line is importing without first identifying which serial number in Schedule 1 of S.O. 3716(E) maps to the precise alloy steel grade and coil specification being purchased — the QCO covers multiple IS standards across dozens of serial entries, and S.O. 5134(E) dated 20-11-2025 temporarily suspended enforcement for serial numbers 49, 50, 60, 64, 86, 92, 93, 94, 102, 128, 132, 135, and 137 for one year from gazette publication. Importers who apply the wrong serial number's IS standard — or who assume a suspension extends to their grade when it does not — face consignment detention and mandatory TCQCO portal referral regardless of SIMS compliance.
