The single most common error on this tariff line is overlooking the time-limited Ministry of Steel exemption: IS 6911, IS 5522, and IS 15997 are exempt from mandatory input adherence only until 31 March 2026 under the order dated 20-11-2025, and this exemption does not extinguish the underlying CM/L and test-certificate obligations under S.O. 3716(E). Importers who treat the exemption as a blanket clearance — rather than a narrow suspension of the input-adherence requirement — risk detention when customs verifies the BIS register and finds no compliant CM/L for the consignment's specific grade and facility.
