The single most common error on this tariff line is failing to track the Ministry of Steel exemption order dated 20-11-2025 (F.No. S-20011/15/2024-Tech-Part-1), which granted a 3-year deferral from mandatory IS 6911, IS 5522, and IS 15997 input-material adherence — while the BIS QCO framework and TCQCO portal obligations for uncertified imports remain fully operative. Importers who treat the MoS exemption as a blanket clearance from all BIS obligations, rather than a narrow deferral of input-IS adherence, face detention and monetary penalty under Section 17 of the BIS Act, 2016.
