Exceeding 14 mm
Stainless steel flat-rolled plate exceeding 14 mm thickness
HSN 7219 21 22 (stainless steel flat-rolled plate exceeding 14 mm thickness) is covered by a Bureau of Indian Standards Quality Control Order under the Steel and Steel Products QCO 2024 vide S.O. 3716(E). Conformity to IS 6911, IS 5522, or IS 15997 is mandatory under the ISI Mark Scheme with effect from 31 March 2026; an exemption from mandatory input adherence for all three standards was granted by the Ministry of Steel order dated 20 November 2025 until that enforcement date. Steel Import Monitoring System registration administered by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade and Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs oversight apply as separate customs-clearance overlays.
Procedural directions for customs clearance are issued by: Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs, Directorate General of Foreign Trade.

The single most common error on this tariff line is treating the Ministry of Steel exemption order dated 20 November 2025 as a permanent waiver rather than a time-bound deferral: IS 6911, IS 5522, and IS 15997 mandatory input adherence is suspended only until 31 March 2026, after which full ISI Mark Scheme CM/L compliance becomes operative without further grace. Importers who do not secure licensed supply chains before that date face consignment detention and mandatory TCQCO portal referral on every unlicensed shipment from 01 April 2026 onwards.
