Ensure every sheet consignment is accompanied by a test certificate bearing the ISI standard mark, issued by the BIS-licensed manufacturer, with each consignment. The standard mark must appear on the product itself in accordance with Scheme-I of Schedule-II to the BIS (CA) Regulations, 2018.

Register the consignment on the Steel Import Monitoring System portal not earlier than 60 days before the expected date of arrival. The registration fee is ₹500 and the automatic registration number remains valid for 75 days; it must remain within validity on the date of arrival.

For imports of seconds and defective HR sheets or plates, comply with value restrictions, port restrictions, and the requirement to produce a Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificate. Sub-standard product that does not conform to the specified Indian Standard must be disposed of as scrap under Section 17(1)(b) of the BIS Act, 2016.
