The most common error on this tariff line is assuming that a single CM/L licence against IS 2062 covers all hot-rolled flat product variants imported under HSN 7208 52 30. IS 1079 governs a distinct product specification within the same thickness band, and customs verification at port is specification-specific — a CM/L scoped to one standard does not cover product certified under the other. Confirm in writing with the supplier which Indian Standard the consignment is manufactured and licensed against before the purchase order, and ensure the test certificate, standard mark, and bill-of-entry description are internally consistent.
