The most common error on this tariff line is assuming the Steel and Steel Products (Quality Control) Order, 2024 imposes a generic, product-family-wide IS number that any steel-sector CM/L licence will satisfy. The Order is Schedule-driven — the applicable Indian Standard for ferro-silico-chromium is fixed by its specific row in Schedule 1, and a CM/L licensed against a different ferro-alloy IS number (for example, ferro-chrome or ferro-silicon) does not satisfy the obligation. Verify that the supplier's CM/L scope references the exact IS number and product code mapped to HSN 7202 50 00 in Schedule 1, before the purchase order is issued — not at the port.
