- 2Where the parts contain gold in any form above 22 carats, import is restricted to nominated agencies notified by the Reserve Bank of India (in the case of banks) or DGFT (in the case of others). The most common error on this tariff line is misreading the gold-content threshold: the expression 'gold in any form' captures gold above 22 carats in any article, including parts of goldsmiths' wares — not only finished jewellery. An importer who is not a nominated agency and presents a bill of entry for such parts without nominated-agency status faces confiscation of the consignment and monetary penalty, with no administrative remedy short of re-export.
