Studded with other precious and semi-precious stones
Jewellery of other precious metal studded with precious stones
HSN 7113 19 25 (jewellery of other precious metal studded with precious and semi-precious stones) is subject to ITC (HS) import policy administered by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), with imports from South Korea of specified items classified as Restricted under policy condition no. 4 to Chapter 71. Additionally, where the jewellery contains gold above 22 carats in any form, import is permitted only through nominated agencies notified by the Reserve Bank of India or DGFT.
- Import Licence from DGFT
- Nominated agency certificate from RBI or DGFT
- 1If sourcing from South Korea, confirm the goods fall outside the restricted items listed under policy condition no. 4 to Chapter 71 of the ITC (HS) 2022. A consignment of a specified restricted item from South Korea requires a DGFT licence before the bill of entry is filed.ITC (HS) policy condition no. 4 to Chapter 71
- 2Where the jewellery contains gold in any form above 22 carats, import may be made only by a nominated agency notified by the Reserve Bank of India (in the case of banks) or by DGFT (in the case of other entities). Confirm nominated-agency status before dispatch and carry the relevant authorisation at the bill of entry.DGFT Notification 22/2015-20 dated 02-09-2021
The most common error on this tariff line is overlooking the South Korea origin restriction: importers assume the line is freely importable because the item is not on a blanket Restricted list, then discover at the bill of entry that policy condition no. 4 to Chapter 71 applies specifically to their South Korean supplier. Origin verification must precede the purchase order, not the customs filing; a consignment from a restricted origin arriving without a DGFT licence is liable to detention and re-export.
