The single most common error on this tariff line is sourcing against a single IS number when the Jute Bags (Quality Control) Order, 2022 maps six distinct Indian Standards to specific bag types and capacities — a CM/L licence against IS 1943:1995 does not cover bags that must conform to IS 2566:1993, IS 12650:2018, IS 15138:2010, IS 16186:2014, or IS 16372:2015. Customs port verification matches the IS cited on the bill of entry against the actual bag specification; a standard mismatch — even with a valid CM/L for a different IS — triggers detention at Nhava Sheva with accumulating demurrage and ground rent.
