A word of counsel

The most common error on this tariff line is tendering a supplier who embroiders in the Chikan style but is not formally registered as a certified user against GI No. 119 in the Geographical Indication Registry. GI recognition is supplier-specific, not origin-specific: a product made in Lucknow by an uncertified artisan does not qualify, and a consignment shipped on that basis is liable to detention and re-export as goods imported in violation of the ITC (HS) Restricted-import policy condition.
