HSN 6212 90 10 (Suspender belts, braces, suspender garters and the like) is subject to the ITC (HS) import policy administered by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), with a mandatory Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificate requirement covering prohibited hazardous azo dyes under General Note 10. Imports originating from Bangladesh are additionally subject to port restrictions introduced under DGFT Notification 7/2025-26 dated 17-05-2025.

- Test report from Textile Committee or CSRTI
- ITC (HS) policy compliance from DGFT
- 1Obtain a Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificate (PSIC) from an accredited laboratory of the exporting country, or a valid test report from a Textile Committee (TC) or Central Sheep and Wool Research Institute (CSRTI) laboratory, certifying the absence of prohibited hazardous azo dyes. Imports from EU, Serbia, Poland, Denmark, Australia, Canada, Japan, South Korea and the United Kingdom are exempt from azo-dye testing only.General Note 10 of the ITC (HS) Import Policy · DGFT Public Notice 14/2023 dated 14-06-2023
- 2For consignments originating from Bangladesh, verify applicability of the port restrictions under Para 1 of the general notes introduced by DGFT Notification 7/2025-26 dated 17-05-2025. Confirm whether the goods fall under the exempted categories in Para 2 and 3 before routing the shipment.DGFT Notification 7/2025-26 dated 17-05-2025 · Para 19 of General Notes, ITC (HS) 2022
The most common error on this tariff line is treating the azo-dye country-of-origin exemption as eliminating the PSIC requirement altogether. The exemption from azo-dye testing applies to the nine listed countries only and solely to that specific test parameter; a PSIC confirming composition and absence of other hazardous substances remains required for all origins. Consignments presented without any PSIC or test report are detained at port pending documentary compliance.
