Dressing gowns and bathrobes of wool
Women's woollen dressing gowns and bathrobes
HSN 6208 99 10 (Dressing gowns and bathrobes of wool) is subject to the ITC (HS) import policy administered by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) under the Textile (Development & Regulation) Order, 2001 read with Notification No. CER (18)/99-CLB dated 7 March 1988 and the Essential Commodities Act, 1955. A Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificate certifying fibre composition and a certificate of origin are mandatory, and DGFT Notification 7/2025-26 introduces additional port restrictions for imports from Bangladesh.
- Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificate from accredited laboratory
- Certificate of Origin from exporting country
- Brand genuineness certificate from brand owner
- 1Obtain a Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificate (PSIC) from an accredited laboratory of the exporting country certifying the fibre composition of the woollen textile or blend. The consignment must also be accompanied by a Certificate of Origin and a certificate from the brand owner confirming the genuineness of the product, markings, and authority to use the brand name.General Note 11 of the ITC (HS) Import Policy · Notification No. CER (18)/99-CLB dated 07-03-1988 read with Textile (Development & Regulation) Order, 2001
- 2Obtain a PSIC from an accredited laboratory or a valid test report from a Textile Committee or CSRTI laboratory certifying absence of prohibited hazardous azo dyes. Testing for azo-dye presence is exempted only for imports originating from the EU, Serbia, Poland, Denmark, Australia, Canada, Japan, South Korea and the United Kingdom.General Note 10 of the ITC (HS) Import Policy · DGFT Public Notice 14/2023 dated 14-06-2023
- 3Where the consignment originates from Bangladesh, verify applicability of the port restrictions introduced under Para 19 of the General Notes to the ITC (HS) 2022 and confirm the consignment enters through a permitted port. Review the exemptions listed in Paras 2 and 3 of that notification before finalising the routing.DGFT Notification 7/2025-26 dated 17-05-2025
The most common error on this tariff line is presenting a PSIC that certifies only azo-dye absence without separately addressing fibre composition and blend percentages — both requirements are independent and must appear on distinct certificates or explicitly on the same PSIC. A consignment carrying a composition-silent test report will be detained at the port of entry pending a fresh PSIC, incurring demurrage and ground rent; brand owners' authority letters are also frequently omitted and cannot be substituted by general commercial invoices.
