Women's or girls' nightwear and underwear of other textile materials
HSN 6208 29 90 (women's or girls' nightwear and similar articles of other textile materials) is subject to the ITC (HS) Restricted-import policy administered by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT). A Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificate certifying the absence of prohibited hazardous azo dyes is mandated under General Note 10 of the ITC (HS) policy. Imports originating from Bangladesh are additionally subject to port restrictions under DGFT Notification 7/2025-26 dated 17-05-2025.
- Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificate from accredited lab
- Test report from Textile Committee or CSRTI
- ITC (HS) policy compliance declaration from DGFT
- 1Obtain a Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificate (PSIC) from an accredited laboratory of the exporting country, or a valid test report from a Textile Committee (TC) or Central Sheep and Wool Research Institute (CSRTI) laboratory, certifying the absence of prohibited hazardous azo dyes. Imports from EU, Serbia, Poland, Denmark, Australia, Canada, Japan, South Korea and the United Kingdom are exempt from azo-dye testing only; the PSIC for other parameters remains required for all origins.General Note 10 of the ITC (HS) Import Policy · DGFT Public Notice 14/2023 dated 14-06-2023
- 2If the consignment originates from Bangladesh, verify compliance with Para 19 of the General Notes as introduced by DGFT Notification 7/2025-26 dated 17-05-2025, which imposes port restrictions on certain goods imported from Bangladesh. Confirm whether the goods fall within the exempted categories listed in Paras 2 and 3 of that notification before routing the shipment.DGFT Notification 7/2025-26 dated 17-05-2025, Para 19 of General Notes, ITC (HS) 2022
The most common error on this tariff line is assuming the azo-dye PSIC exemption for listed countries extends to all testing requirements — it does not; it covers azo-dye testing only, and a PSIC certifying the full suite of prohibited hazardous dye parameters remains mandatory for every origin. For Bangladesh-origin consignments, importers frequently overlook the port-restriction overlay introduced by DGFT Notification 7/2025-26; routing through a non-notified port before confirming Para 2 or Para 3 exemption status risks detention and re-export of the entire consignment.
