HSN 6208 19 10 (women's or girls' cotton nightwear and similar articles, other than hand printed) is subject to the ITC (HS) import policy administered by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), which requires a Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificate certifying the absence of prohibited hazardous azo dyes under General Note 10. Consignments originating from Bangladesh are additionally subject to port restrictions under DGFT Notification 7/2025-26 dated 17-05-2025.
- Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificate from accredited lab
- Test report from Textile Committee or CSRTI
- ITC (HS) policy compliance from DGFT
- 1Obtain a Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificate from an accredited laboratory in the exporting country, or a valid test report from the Textile Committee or CSRTI, certifying the absence of prohibited hazardous azo dyes. Azo-dye testing is exempted only for imports originating from the EU, Serbia, Poland, Denmark, Australia, Canada, Japan, South Korea, and the United Kingdom.General Note 10 of the ITC (HS) Import Policy · DGFT Public Notice 14/2023 dated 14-06-2023
- 2If the consignment originates from Bangladesh, verify compliance with Para 19 of the General Notes to the ITC (HS) 2022 as introduced by DGFT Notification 7/2025-26 dated 17-05-2025, including the port restrictions stated in Para 1 and the exemptions in Paras 2 and 3.DGFT Notification 7/2025-26 dated 17-05-2025
The most common error on this tariff line is assuming that the PSIC requirement applies only to certain product types or origins — it applies to all textile and textile articles, with the azo-dye testing exemption available only for the nine listed country origins. Separately, the Bangladesh port-restriction overlay introduced by DGFT Notification 7/2025-26 is a recent and distinct requirement; importers sourcing from Bangladesh must confirm the port of entry is notified under Para 1 of that notification before vessel departure.
