HSN 6204 33 10 (women's or girls' garments of synthetic fibres embroidered with Lucknow Chikan Craft) is subject to the ITC (HS) import policy administered by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), with eligibility restricted to goods produced by Geographical Indication-registered users under GI No. 119 per DGFT Notification 20/2015-20 dated 07-07-2022. A Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificate covering azo-dye absence is additionally mandated under General Note 10 of the ITC (HS) policy, and Bangladesh-origin consignments are subject to port restrictions under DGFT Notification 7/2025-26 dated 17-05-2025.

The most common error on this tariff line is treating it as an ordinary synthetic-fibre garment entry and overlooking the GI-user condition. The Lucknow Chikan Craft designation is not self-declaring: the exporter must be a named, certified user in the GI Registry against GI No. 119, and an invoice or certificate of origin alone does not satisfy this requirement. A consignment presented without documentary evidence of the supplier's GI-user status is liable to detention as goods not conforming to the declared tariff entry.
