Compliance steps
  1. 1

  2. 2
Confirm whether the country of origin qualifies for azo-dye testing exemption. Testing is waived only for imports from the EU, Serbia, Poland, Denmark, Australia, Canada, Japan, South Korea, and the United Kingdom; all other origins must provide the PSIC or test report without exception.

A word of counsel

The most frequent error on this tariff line is assuming the azo-dye exemption extends beyond the nine named origins. A consignment arriving from any country not on the exemption list — including neighbouring textile exporters — without a valid PSIC or TC/CSRTI test report will be detained at the port of import pending documentary compliance, accumulating demurrage and ground rent until the deficiency is remedied or the consignment is re-exported.
