  1. 1

  2. 2
If the origin is EU, Serbia, Poland, Denmark, Australia, Canada, Japan, South Korea, or the United Kingdom, the azo-dye testing exemption applies and a separate PSIC for azo-dye content is not required. For all other origins, the PSIC is mandatory and must be uploaded in e-Sanchit before the bill of entry is assessed.

A word of counsel

The most common error on this tariff line is assuming the azo-dye exemption is a blanket exemption from all pre-shipment testing. The exemption applies only to azo-dye testing and only for the nine listed countries; composition testing and other PSIC parameters remain required for all origins. Presenting a test report that covers azo dyes alone, without the full PSIC scope, routinely results in consignment detention at the port of import pending document rectification.
