Compliance steps
  1. 1

Note the country-of-origin exemption: imports from the EU, Serbia, Poland, Denmark, Australia, Canada, Japan, South Korea and the United Kingdom are exempt from azo-dye testing only. A word of counsel

The most frequent error on this tariff line is assuming that a general-purpose fabric test report issued by any laboratory satisfies the PSIC requirement. The document must originate from an accredited laboratory in the exporting country or from a Textile Committee or CSRTI laboratory specifically; an unaccredited or in-house supplier test report is not accepted, and customs will detain the consignment pending a compliant certificate, accruing demurrage and ground rent.

Which countries are exempt from azo-dye testing for this tariff line?
Azo-dye testing is exempted only for imports originating from the EU, Serbia, Poland, Denmark, Australia, Canada, Japan, South Korea and the United Kingdom; all other origins must present a PSIC or valid test report from TC or CSRTI per DGFT Public Notice 14/2023 dated 14-06-2023.
