- Content compliance declaration from importer
- 1Verify that no calendar, calendar block, or printed article in the consignment contains obscene content — drawings, paintings, representations, figures, or printed matter — before filing the bill of entry. Import of any such obscene article is absolutely prohibited under Notification No. 01/1964-CUS.Notification No. 01/1964-CUS dated 18-01-1964
- 2File the bill of entry under CTI 4910 00 90 with a content compliance declaration confirming the consignment is free of prohibited obscene material. The customs proper officer may inspect and detain consignments suspected of carrying prohibited content pending verification.Notification No. 01/1964-CUS dated 18-01-1964 · Customs Act, 1962
The prohibition under Notification No. 01/1964-CUS is absolute and applies to the entirety of a mixed consignment: a single calendar or calendar block containing obscene imagery renders the entire consignment liable to confiscation, not merely the offending items. Importers sourcing commercially printed promotional or decorative calendars from offshore printers should obtain a content-review certification from the manufacturer before shipment, as post-arrival detention accrues demurrage and ground rent while the customs officer completes inspection.
