Bandages
Bandages for medical, surgical, dental or veterinary use
HSN 3005 90 40 (Bandages) is governed by the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940, which regulates the import of pharmaceutical wadding, gauze, and bandages put up for retail sale for medical, surgical, dental, or veterinary purposes. Customs clearance requires a Certificate of Analysis, a Batch Release Certificate, and a label of consignment uploaded in e-Sanchit before out-of-charge.
- Certificate of Analysis from manufacturer
- Batch Release Certificate from manufacturer
- Label of consignment from importer
- 1Obtain a Certificate of Analysis (document code 0010dc) and a Batch Release Certificate (document code 0030dc) for the imported bandage consignment from the manufacturer or authorised testing laboratory. Both documents must be uploaded in e-Sanchit before the bill of entry is filed.Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 · e-Sanchit document codes 0010dc and 0030dc per CCR
- 2Upload the label of consignment (document code 0110dc) in e-Sanchit. The proper officer will verify that all three mandatory documents are present before granting out-of-charge; consignments without any of the three documents are liable to detention pending regularisation.e-Sanchit document code 0110dc per CCR
The most common error on this tariff line is uploading the Certificate of Analysis but omitting the Batch Release Certificate, treating them as interchangeable. They are distinct documents serving separate functions — the Certificate of Analysis confirms compositional specification while the Batch Release Certificate confirms release-for-use by the manufacturer — and a missing Batch Release Certificate alone is sufficient ground for the proper officer to withhold out-of-charge, resulting in port detention and accruing demurrage.
