The most frequent compliance failure on this tariff line is misdeclaration of the product as low aromatic white spirit, hydrocarbon solvents, or industrial mixture composition plus (IMCP) — a pattern flagged by DRI Alert Circular 02/2020-CI dated 23-04-2020. Customs officers are directed to scrutinise declarations of petroleum light oils against this alert; a misdeclared consignment is liable to seizure, confiscation and prosecution under the Customs Act, 1962, independent of any PESO licence held by the importer.
