Manganese ore (35% or more but below 40%)
Manganese ore, 35% or more but below 40% manganese content
HSN 2602 00 40 (Manganese ore with a manganese content of 35% or more but below 40%) is not covered by a Bureau of Indian Standards Quality Control Order and carries no Partner Government Agency clearance requirement at the tariff-line level. Import follows the standard customs procedure: Importer-Exporter Code, bill of entry, commercial invoice, packing list. Manganese ores at different concentration bands are classified under separate tariff lines within Chapter 26, and a declared manganese content that falls outside the 35–40% band will attract re-classification.
The concentration band — 35% or more but below 40% manganese on a dry-weight basis — is the sole criterion that places an ore shipment at this tariff line; laboratory assay certificates inconsistent with the declared grade are the most common trigger for customs re-classification. Re-classification to a higher- or lower-concentration sibling line can result in detention pending resolution and retrospective duty recovery. Importers should obtain an independent third-party assay report before filing the bill of entry and retain it as primary documentation.
