- 3Ensure the product label meets all requirements of the Food Safety and Standards (Labelling and Display) Regulations, 2020, including per-serve percentage contribution to recommended dietary allowance and dual date marking. Rectifiable labelling deficiencies may be corrected at customs bonded warehouses by affixing a single non-detachable sticker on the principal display panel, prior to authorised-officer inspection.FSSAI Letter 1828/Misc Matters/FSSAI/Imports-2021 dated 17-06-2022 · CBIC Instruction 10/2022-Cus dated 28-06-2022 · FSS (Import) Regulations, 2017
The most common error on this tariff line is submitting a label that omits the per-serve percentage contribution to recommended dietary allowance calculated on the basis of the prescribed nutrient reference values under the Food Safety and Standards (Labelling and Display) Regulations, 2020 — a deficiency that is rectifiable at the bonded warehouse but only by a sticker affixed by the manufacturer, not the importer. An importer-applied label correction does not satisfy the FSSAI dispensation, and the authorised officer may withhold out-of-charge until the manufacturer-issued correction is verified.
