Tissue culture plant
Live plants propagated by tissue culture
HSN 0602 90 30 (tissue culture plant) is not covered by a Bureau of Indian Standards Quality Control Order and carries no Partner Government Agency clearance requirement at the tariff-line level. Import follows the standard customs procedure: Importer-Exporter Code (IEC), bill of entry, commercial invoice, packing list. Other live plants, cuttings, and bulbs classified elsewhere in Chapter 06 may attract phytosanitary or plant quarantine requirements that do not apply here at the tariff-line level.
The absence of a tariff-line compliance requirement does not preclude general plant quarantine obligations that apply to live plant material entering India; importers should confirm the current phytosanitary position with the relevant agricultural authority before shipment. Misclassification risk is real: tissue culture material presented as cuttings, slips, or rooted plants may be re-classified by customs to a sibling line within Chapter 06, triggering retrospective compliance and detention pending resolution. Verify the precise propagation method and plant form against the tariff description before relying on this tariff line.
