Of wild life
Wild animal products, unfit for human consumption
HSN 0511 99 92 (Of wild life) is subject to an absolute import prohibition under the ITC (HS) policy administered by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT). Where a consignment has been routed through a Partner Government Agency for a no-objection certificate, a Health Certificate must be uploaded in e-Sanchit before customs out-of-charge.
- Health Certificate from issuing authority
- NOC from relevant PGA
- 1Note that import of wild life animal products under this tariff line is Prohibited under the ITC (HS) import policy. No commercial import is permissible without a specific government authorisation overriding the Prohibited status; consignments arriving without such authorisation are liable to seizure and confiscation.ITC (HS) import policy, Chapter 05 — Prohibited status
- 2Where the consignment has been routed through a Partner Government Agency and an NOC has been obtained, ensure the Health Certificate (document code 6360AQ) is uploaded in e-Sanchit before filing the bill of entry. The proper officer must verify this upload prior to granting out-of-charge.ITC (HS) policy, Chapter 05 · e-Sanchit document code 6360AQ
The prohibited status of this tariff line is absolute under the ITC (HS) policy — there is no free-import pathway for wild life animal products, and the Health Certificate requirement applies only to the narrow exception where a PGA NOC has already been granted. Importers who attempt to clear consignments on the basis of a Health Certificate alone, without a prior PGA NOC overriding the Prohibited status, face confiscation and monetary penalty; the Health Certificate does not constitute or substitute for the underlying import authorisation.
